This is typical of the area I live in, lots more work than there are people to do it and that applies to all the trades whether you need a carpenter or a painter. I could tell they were just throwing high prices at me otherwise how could you commit to something you can’t see first. Only 2 called me back and gave me prices over the phone. I called everybody doing this business within a ten mile radius, 16 businesses to be exact. The grounds services or landscapers near me have all the work they need and won’t bother to talk to any new customers, and it does’t matter what time of the year it is! Oh yeah, it’s true, I went to guys working on my street asking if they would like another customer and they just laughed at me. During the years I couldn’t do my own property I couldn’t get anybody to do the work needed unless I hired a big commercial company and paid an ultra high price. I was forced into early retirement because I got severe arthritis 7 years ago losing the joints in my hips and knees. Lastly, when did the new HS 82 trimmer come out? Did the Stihl trimmer line up move up each time by one number, example: HS 80, 81 and now the 82? Can I just swap out the cutters on the “R” for a set of “T” blades? That is the only difference - isn’t it? Question is for later I’ll be better off using an 82 “T” for fine trimming, but I’m cheap at times and don’t want to buy another trimmer. Granted, I have a lot of woodsy bush recovery to do and the 82 “R” is made with that in mind. It’s a lot easier to tackle this after a good hard frost when there is a lot less ticks, bugs and bees, not to mention I wouldn’t want to do this when it’s hot outside! Over 40 untamed boxwoods, about 20 miscellaneous bushes and a wooded area left to grow wild with under brush. There is a job I can do over the winter as the weather permits. New they list at $565, I got mine for $280, it includes 6% tax and $45 shipping on EBay. I just bought a used but very good Stihl HS 82 R with a 30” cutters. I’m amazed the assistant manager for the power tool dept couldn’t answer my questions.
